Amy Winehouse Style Stealer - The 1960's Beehive!

As I'm sure your all aware, sadly Amy Winehouse Passes away Last week. I dont want to go talk too much about the Low points in her life but more rejoyce the good parts, such as her one of a kind fashion. Her style was individual & Exiting. Her most famous trend was the 'Beehive'. Which were also Huge in the 196os.

So I tried it out the other night and it adds a really chic, Different look to that plain old white Vest top & Skinny Jeanes. So I'm going to do a step to step guide on doing a Beehive Hairstyle.

The Beehive.

  • Place the hair pins, hair spray and comb within easy reach. Sit in front of a mirror and have a hand held mirror to look at the back of your hair when needed.

  • Pull the hair from the forehead back to the crown into a large hair clip. The hair at the crown and down to the ears is styled last, and placing it in a clip will keep it out of your way & make it easier.

  • Comb the hair from the nape of the neck and behind the ears up to the top of your head, about an inch below the crown. Do not comb out the end of the curl, only the base. Place Hair pins horizontally across the back of your head to hold the hair up. Hair pins can be hooked together or placed in an "x" position to hold the beehive hair in place.

  • Style the curled ends into swirls and secure them with hair spray and hair pins. Start with the bottom curl and attach it just below the Hair pin line using a hair pin. Attach each successive layer of curls to the previous curl until all the hair you've pulled up in the back has been curled and styled. Spray generously with hair spray.

  • Remove the large hair clip holding the hair from the forehead to the crown. Tease/back-comb small sections at a time using the rat tail comb. Tease only the roots of the hair, not the curled ends. After the front hair has been teased, spray generously with hair spray.

  • Start with the hair closest to the crown and with the end of the comb, pull only the ends of the curls towards the previously styled curls. The object is to swirl the hair from the crown into the curls, continuing to "build" the curls or swirls & height.

  • Save the front half of the teased hair to style towards your face for a finished look. After all the hair is in place, spray it again with hair spray to withstand the day!

  • If you try this out please tweet a pic @lucy894 & I will Blog a gallery of People That tried! Even if it goes wrong the first time.

A sneak peak at Gok Wan’s figure-fixing debut collection for Tu at Sainsbury’s.

    Boy,Now I really do have a treat for you…
How would you like to put on a dress that looks like a normal dress from the outside but beneath all that is a secret slip which hugs you in, in all the right places? This dress is set to be the most eagerly sought after, desirable outfit this year!

I hear you asking ‘who created such a dress?’ Well no other than every women’s best friend – Gok wan!

This dress is part of a 13 piece collection put together by the star. It retails at £40 which is affordable & what many women are wanting and looking for right now.

Although it doesn’t hit the high street for another two and a half months, this dress has already been crowned a must have after being unveiled last week at Elite fashion show.

Gok said ‘I wanted to create clothes that are all about good fit and help to sculpt the body.’
He added ‘I’ve styled thousands of women and they all have a feature they don’t like, it could be shoulders, legs or bust.’

Priced at £40 this vibrant dress sure wont disappoint. The designer has created an autumn-winter collection made up of 13 key pieces. Prices start from £20. The collection consists of many different colours so wont bore – Red, black, teal, terracotta and two signature floral prints.

So girl mark 6th October on your calendars!
    Lots of Love
